Responsible Gambling Resources
Betting should be entertainment, not a way to make money or escape a problem. If gambling has stopped feeling fun, or is costing you more than you can afford — in money, time, or relationships — help is free, confidential, and available right now.
In crisis right now? Call or text the National Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), available 24/7, free and confidential.
Warning signs to watch for
- Betting more than you planned, or chasing losses with bigger bets
- Lying to family or friends about how much you bet or lost
- Borrowing money, missing bills, or selling things to fund betting
- Feeling restless or irritable when trying to cut back
- Using betting to escape stress, anxiety, or a bad mood
- Betting affecting your job, sleep, or relationships
Tools to set limits
Every licensed US sportsbook and casino is required to offer account controls. Look for these in your account settings:
- Deposit limits — cap how much you can add to your account daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Time-out / cooling-off periods — temporarily lock your account for a set period.
- Self-exclusion — voluntarily ban yourself from an operator, or from all licensed operators in a state, for a period you choose (often 1 year to lifetime).
