bet365 Launches Sportsbook and Casino in West Virginia
bet365 went live with both its online sportsbook and its iGaming casino platform in West Virginia this week, making it the operator's 18th active US state. The launch, confirmed by bet365 and reported by multiple gaming trade outlets on August 27-28, brings the UK-based operator's full betting and casino product to West Virginia bettors for the first time.
What's actually live
West Virginia residents 21 and older can now access bet365's sports betting product alongside its real-money online casino games in the same account. On the sportsbook side, the launch includes bet365's Early Payout Offer, which settles qualifying bets as winners once a bettor's team builds a 17-point lead. The casino side includes the operator's Daily Prize Matcher promotion and the newly rolled-out Jackpot365, an in-house multi-tier progressive jackpot feature built to run across bet slips and casino games rather than as a separate product.
West Virginia legalized online sports betting in 2018 and iGaming in 2020, so the regulatory groundwork for both products has existed for years — bet365's move fills a market the operator hadn't yet entered. Trip Stoddard, bet365's Head of Development, said the launch is "another important step in bet365's continued expansion," with a focus on bringing "quality, depth and functionality" to customers in the state.
Why the timing matters
The launch lands directly ahead of the college football and NFL seasons, historically the two heaviest betting windows of the year for any US sportsbook. Entering a new state right before that volume hits gives bet365 a full season to build market share in West Virginia before next year's slower offseason months. bet365 now operates sportsbook and/or casino products across 18 states, continuing a steady, if measured, expansion pace compared to the largest US operators.
What it means for West Virginia bettors
A new legal entrant generally means more competition for existing operators already licensed in the state, which can translate into more promotional activity and sharper pricing over time — though neither is guaranteed and any specific offer should be evaluated on its own terms rather than assumed. Bettors in West Virginia now have one more regulated, licensed option for both sports betting and online casino play under a single account.
